The summer of 2019 was hot and fairly dry with three heat waves. The autumn was quite mild and in November and December, no less than three extremely heavy rainfall in Provence caused severe flooding.
The winter has so far been milder than normal and some buds have already appeared on non-pruned vines in Var! This means that the sap has already risen and, if pruning has not been done yet, some of the “energy” in the vine will be lost. Also, it causes the growers to fear the frost because the buds are sensitive. It is cold weather right now in the northern parts of Provence with temperatures at night below zero degrees Celsius, hope that the buds will not suffer too much!
